Chartered Accountancy is a noble profession which commands very high respect in the society. A Chartered Accountant (CA) designation typically proves the holder has the qualifications to audit financial statements and business practices as well as offer advisory services to clientele. It also provides ample employment opportunities in India and abroad. It offers self employment projects. Chartered Accountants work in all fields of business and finance including audit, taxation, financial and general management. Some are engaged in public practice work, others work in the private sector and some are employed by government bodies. With the rapid growth in economy, careers in finance and accounts have gained tremendous popularity and the most prestigious career option in this field is that of Chartered Accountant. Chartered Accountancy is a dynamic, challenging and rewarding profession which commands very high respect in the society. All the countries have their own Accountancy Association which regulates the quality and quantity of the professionals in this field. The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) is both an examining and a licensing body. It is the responsibility of the institute to conduct the Chartered accountancy (CA) Course. The course involves a blend of theoretical education and practical training which run concurrently for a period of three years and equips a student with knowledge, ability, skills and other qualities required of a professional accountant.

Syllabus
Common Proficiency Test (CPT) is the foundation course for Chartered Accountancy. Basic requirement to apply for CPT exam is Plus Two. The assessment is objective type and marks awarded are out of 200. Minimum requirement to pass the CPT exam is 50%. The examination is conducted in the months of June and December every academic year.
